Thank you for thinking of SLICE for your poetry or prose. 

Our reading period is currently closed. The next reading period runs from November 1, 2021 – January 1, 2022. We will be considering work for Issue 28, which will be released fall 2021. Theme to be announced soon. We look for work that plays off the theme, particularly in unexpected ways.

We offer contributors $400 for long stories and essays, $150 for flash fiction, and $100 for poems.

Please note, we are unable to accept any submissions sent to us via email or post. The maximum word count for submissions is 5,000 words. You may submit up to: 5 poems, 2 stories, 5 flash fiction pieces, and 2 essays. Please only submit once per reading period. Multiple submissions in the same genre will not be read. Simultaneous submissions are acceptable as long as we’re notified immediately if the work is selected for publication elsewhere. All work should be previously unpublished. 

Please allow up to four months after the end of the reading period for us to reply to your submission.
